The Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) for Medicare Advantage Health plans and Medicare Part D prescription Drug plans starts October 15th and runs through December 7th.

Every year Medicare beneficiaries in Alabama and across the United States have the opportunity to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan or Part D plan of their choice.

Insurance companies that offer these plans can choose to renew the plan as-is from the previous year without making any significant changes to the plan or they can choose not to renew a plan.

They can also renew a plan and make changers to the plan. These changes could include changing the monthly premium or changing the level of coverage including the cost sharing responsibility of the the plan member.

Plan can also non-renew for the following year. Any changes to your plan must be communicated to you in your Annual Notice of Change which arrives in September.

When researching Medicare Advantage Plans in your area, look deeper than just the monthly premium and provider co-pays. These are important, but don’t adequately paint the entire picture.
